After celebrating International Women’s Day, and honouring women’s history month, it’s essential to reflect on the strides women have made in various sectors, including the dynamic landscape of financial technology (Fintech). This year’s theme, “Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress,” resonates profoundly with my journey in the Fintech space and the broader narrative of women empowerment.
My name is Beatrice Ngina, and for over a decade, I have navigated the intricate realm of Fintech, starting from an administrative role to now spearheading technology projects across multiple companies. It has been a journey marked by challenges, opportunities, and invaluable support from my peers in the industry.
My ascent from an entry-level position to Senior Manager Commercial at a Fintech company wasn’t solitary. It was a testament to the guidance and mentorship provided by fellow professionals who recognized my eagerness to learn and grow. They extended their hands, showing me the ropes and instilling in me the confidence to navigate the complexities of the Fintech landscape. For that I remain forever thankful.
Today, I find myself in a position where I have the privilege to pay it forward. As the Head of technology projects for Roamtech Solutions and her sister companies, I am committed to ensuring that products are delivered with precision and timeliness. But beyond that, I am equally devoted to uplifting and empowering other women in the Fintech space.
One of the most effective ways to accelerate progress is by investing in the development of women within the industry. I actively encourage upskilling, recognizing the importance of continuous learning in an ever-evolving field like Fintech. Through identification of training programs, I strive to equip aspiring women with the knowledge and skills needed to thrive in this competitive landscape.
Moreover, I emphasize the significance of delegation and mentorship. By delegating responsibilities and entrusting tasks to capable women, we not only foster a culture of empowerment but also cultivate a pipeline of future leaders.
